Tenby Beaches

Tenby is basically a sea resort in Wales, UK. It is tiny in comparison with the majority of sea resorts. However, there is nothing small in its entertainment, pleasure and mind-blowing beaches it offers its visitors. Tenby has been awarded the Blue Flag (for excellent beaches) three time in 2006 and a whooping 11 flags for the quality and cleanliness of the whole place in general.

As Tenby depends mostly upon its tourism for its revenue, it has spared no effort in making this town the best possible holiday destination. The facilities it offers, besides the natural scenic beauty it offers has won many accolades and awards.

There are four main beaches - the North Beach, South Beach, Castle Beach and Harbour Beach. Each of these beaches is impeccably clean and has the highest quality of water according to the EC standards. All the beaches have the necessary infrastructure for tourists such as shops, 24 hours coffee shops, toilets and showers, beach-ware hiring facilities and so on. During the peak season, from May to September, dogs are not allowed on any of the beaches since these are over-crowded.

The NorthBeach – This beach has been awarded the EC Blue Flag for its exceptionally clean waters and almost perfect standards it maintains. You will find a good number of rock pools, which are great for swimming and diving as well as the great Goskar Rock from where you could have an exceptional view of the town.

The North Beach is accessible through harbor or via the steps from the North cliff. Since it is easily accessible, it tends to get overcrowded during the summer. The beach and all the facilities offered make it an exceptional stop.

The SouthBeachthis beach is smaller than the North Beach but not less beautiful. It stretches from St Catherine’s Island to Giltar Point. Since this beach is smaller, it has less commercial facilities than the North Beach; nonetheless, you will find all the basic amenities within reach anytime you need it. It also has a full-time lifeguard for any eventuality. The South Beach too has won an award for the best-kept beach, the Tidy Britain Group Seaside Award.

The CastleBeach – you will find this beach just in-between the East Cliff and the Castle Hill. It is a smaller beach than the North Beach, but it has its own charm. When the tide is low, one can walk to St Catherine Island from here. You will find all types of facilities here and you will not miss out anything from main land. The Castle Beach too offers life guard protection during daytime. There are periodical trips to Caldey Island from the Castle Beach – so you could enjoy both the beach sunbathing as well as some great wild life.

The HarbourBeach – this beach is the closest to the town and hence the most accessible. Though it is smaller than the North Beach, which dominates the show, the Harbour Beach has its own inimitable charm and advantages. From the commercial point of view, the Harbor Beach offers everything that other beaches offer. The Harbor Beach is also very close to Caldey Island and some exceptional wild-life viewing.
